Thank you, Cranbrook Rotary, for making a difference

“It’s better to give than to receive” could easily be our vision or mission statement. The satisfaction we feel when we give our clients the tools and advice they need to experience greater safety and independence in their daily lives is priceless. Thank you for your trust and for allowing us to hopefully make a difference.

As a community-based organization, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities that have given us so much, especially within the immediate halos of our two offices in Cranbrook and Castlegar, and across the East and West Kootenays.

A fortunate by-product of our care for community was our recent invitation to the Cranbrook Rotary’s 4th Annual Heart of the Community Gala & Auction as a Platinum Sponsor, thanks (in part) to our $10,000 donation to this very worthy organization. The evening featured a colourful Moulin Rouge theme and a fundraising auction to support the Rotary’s countless charitable initiatives in the community.

The Rotary’s positive impact can be felt throughout the Cranbrook community: in public amenities like Rotary Park and Idlewild Park, through its work with the Fred Scott Villa in providing independent living for low-income seniors, and through donations made to other community institutions like the Salvation Army, EK Regional Hospital Foundation, even the local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides groups.

“Kootenay Colombia Home Medical led all local sponsors in supporting Cranbrook Rotary’s annual Heart of the Community Gala fundraiser,” said Bill Bennett, President of the Cranbrook Rotary Club and former MPP representing the riding of Kootenay East in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 2001 until 2017.

“The kids who are helped to play a sport, the seniors who receive support from the Rotary and benefit from our affordable housing project, and the families who are supported by the mental health programs we fund, all are so very grateful to KC Home Medical Equipment for their community leadership.”

What we appreciate most about the Cranbrook Rotary as a charity is that its work is super-local for maximum impact. And unlike the big-name charities with huge advertising and administrative arms, the organization is volunteer-driven and an exceptionally high percentage of the funds collected by the Rotary go directly to the causes they support.

“Back when we met with Bill a couple of months before the Rotary Gala, he made a statement that resonated with us,” recalled Dana Tippe, owner of Kootenay Columbia Home Medical Equipment. “He said, ‘You only have to volunteer once to feel the satisfaction of helping others and you’re hooked for life.’

“As a private, locally owned community business, we choose to allocate a substantial portion of our advertising dollars to community sponsorships. Our team understands the satisfaction of helping others; it’s what drives us to keep going and coming back day after day. We are very grateful for our team, many of whom have been with us since we started. It seems we, too, are hooked for life.”

Beyond our philanthropic efforts, we aspire every day to make our community a better place simply by helping those with mobility and other medical concerns to enjoy a better quality of life. Our consultative approach with an aim to develop custom solutions unique to each individual’s physiology is driven to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
